David W. Berkus, Managing Director
Dave Berkus has a proven track record in operations, venture investing and corporate board service, both public and private. As an entrepreneur, he has formed, managed and sold successful businesses in the entertainment and software arenas. As a private equity investor, he has obtained healthy returns from liquidity events in over a dozen investments in early-stage ventures. As a corporate mentor and director, he was recently named “Director of the Year” for
his directorship efforts with over 40 companies in the past decade. Kodiak Ventures, L.P., where Dave Berkus is the general partner and manager of the fund, is a 1999 vintage early stage venture fund that has achieved an enviable record of success during a period where the average return of funds created during that time have be negative, over three times gain of 202% and an IRR of over 23%. Berkus Technology Ventures, LLC, Dave’s second fund, has generated an IRR of 23% from its inception in 1993. And Dave personally boast an IRR of 97% going back to his first technology investments measuring from 1981, a rate of return rarely matched in the private equity world. A graduate of Occidental College, Mr. Berkus currently serves as a Trustee of the College. Mr. Berkus is author of “Extending the Runway”, “BERKONOMICS”, and co-author of “Better Than Money!” All books are for emerging growth technology companies and executives.

Stephen A. Block, Managing Director
Block has more than 40 years of broad, legal, management and executive experience at Fortune 500 corporations and a major New York law firm. Mr. Block has had extensive experience in domestic and international mergers and acquisitions and joint ventures. He serves on the Boards of Directors of both private and public companies including the Board of Directors of Senomyx, Inc. (NASDAQ:SNMX) and ChromaDex Corporation (OTC:CDXC.OB),
Chairman of the Board of Blue Pacific Flavors and Fragrances, Inc., and a director of Allylix, Inc., XSCapacity, Inc., Vigilistics, Inc. and Masher Media, Inc. (of which he is co-founder). Mr. Block is also a Managing Director of Venture Farm, LLC, which provides early stage venture capital to entrepreneurs and works closely with them to help them grow and get larger VC funding. Mr. Block holds a Juris Doctor degree from Harvard Law School and a Bachelor of Arts degree cum laude from Yale University.

MalColm Geffen, Managing Director
Malcolm is an experienced entrepreneur with a strong background in professional management and corporate turnarounds. As an entrepreneur he has started a number of different enterprises which include niche magazine and newspaper publishing, management consulting, venture management, fast foods and internet label manufacturing and marketing. His industrial acquisitions cover paper converting, fast foods, tax form distribution, specialty printing,
real estate, and joint ventures. He has been involved in turnarounds in a variety of industries which include consumer goods manufacturing and distribution, industrial distribution, industrial manufacturing, and electronics manufacturing. He is a corporate mentor, counselor, and director of some privately held companies and a member of Tech Coast Angels. He was trained by both GE and McKinsey, was a Business Man of the Year nominee, and the youngest ever recipient of an MIT Sloan Fellowship. Mr. Geffen holds a BS in Commerce from Cape Town University, a Post Graduate Diploma in International Marketing from IMI Harvard and a MS in Industrial Management from MIT.

JJ Richa, Managing Director
JJ Richa is an accomplished technology executive with over 20 years of experience in a vast spectrum of the technology industry. Mr. Richa is a results-oriented serial entrepreneur who has demonstrated his strategic, proactive, and creative abilities with the successful start-up and launch of several companies including TransBoundaries Corporation – a SaaS/WaaS technology company for the hospitality industry, UniquelySpecial.com – an online ecommerce
portal for exquisite and unique shoppers, and Ultimate Computer Systems Inc. – a custom software development company with main concentration on the financial sector. Mr. Richa holds a Bachelor of Science degree and a Master of Science degree from California State University Long Beach. Mr. Richa is a private equity investor and is a member of Tech Coast Angels. He serves on the board of for-profit in addition to non-profit organizations that help start-ups in accelerating business growth and raising capital.

James Connors, Venture Partner
Jim Connors is a seasoned operating executive with over 25 years experience in leading successful turnarounds in a number of manufacturing companies ranging in size up to $250 million in sales carrying well known brand names such as Sunbeam, Lowrey Electronic Organs, Waste King Disposers, Century Infant Seats, Weiser Door Locks and Thermador Appliances. Earlier in his career he was a Senior Engagement Manager with McKinsey & Co. management
consultants specializing in strategy development and operations improvement with such companies as GE, H.J. Heinz and Drexel Furniture Company. He then went on to senior executive roles with individual manufacturing companies and groups of companies and has a 100% success rate in the turnarounds he has led. He is a hands-on executive who is known to place major emphasis on strong decisive leadership especially in turnaround situations where time is of the essence and cash is king. He has a mechanical engineering degree from Yale and an MBA from Wharton.

Richard Davis, Venture Partner
Richard Davis is a senior financial and business executive with over thirty years of experience in technology manufacturing, service, contract assembly, and distribution/logistics companies. He has held executive positions in several start-ups, leveraged buyouts, and Fortune 500 companies, and has been the lead executive in the acquisition and restructuring of 15 companies. He has extensive experience working in distressed situation assisting companies
manage cash and implement positive changes. Mr. Davis was a cofounder and principal in the Chimaira Group, an executive management consulting company that took an active role in restructuring operations, implementing financial controls and obtaining operations financing for distressed companies, as well as performing acquisition due diligence for banks and investment institutions. He has served on the board of several private and public companies. Richard holds an MBA from the University of Southern California, and a BS in Business Administration (Finance) from Iowa State University.

Louis Dienes, Venture Partner
Louis Dienes is an experienced investor in privately-held businesses as well as a trusted law and business advisor to boards, management, investment banks and investors in mergers, acquisitions and divestitures, equity and debt financings, and business operations and has represented investors and businesses in more than 150 private offerings of securities, including preferred stock offerings, convertible debt offerings and offerings of partnership and limited
liability company securities, with substantial experience in advising private investor groups. He has been a member of the Pasadena Angels since 2005 and is a partner of the law firm TroyGould PC. He is involved with Los Angeles County's Community Development Commission both as a member of its Investment Advisory Committee and the Advisory Committee of the Business Technology Center, the county's technology business incubator as well as a member of the Advisory Board of the Center for Technology Commercialization at the University of Southern California. He is the President of the Century City Bar Association and a Trustee of the Los Angeles County Bar Association. He received his law degree from Stanford University.

Wayne Rickard, Venture Partner
Wayne Rickard is a Senior Executive and General Manager with extensive experience driving innovation to commercial success in multiple industries including Consumer, Storage, SaaS, New Media, and Semiconductor. Prior to joining Seagate, he was a founding executive at Gadzoox Networks, a pioneering Fibre Channel interconnect vendor. He previously served 15 years at Emulex Corporation, where he managed the product strategy and development effort
that established the company's leading market position in the Fibre Channel HBA market. Rickard currently serves on the Board of Directors for SmartHome, Inc., and is a member of several advisory boards. Former start-up boards with successful exits include Troika Networks, Aarohi Communications, Aristos Logic, and Monosphere. Rickard holds a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from California State University, Fullerton and an M.B.A. from Pepperdine University.

Michael Good, Venture Partner
Michael Good brings over 16 years experience and background in representation and negotiation to the resolution of problems facing financially troubled businesses. In private practice, Mr. Good has represented a wide variety of corporate debtors, creditors’ committees, individual creditors and other parties in interest in numerous reorganization and liquidation proceedings under the United States Bankruptcy Code, as well as in out-of-court restructurings.
Mr. Good has also been actively involved in complex receiverships and has represented assignees for the benefit of creditors. A graduate of Pepperdine Law School and judicial law clerk in the US Bankruptcy Court for the Central District of California, Mr. Good has also authored numerous published articles and lectured on aspects of bankruptcy law. He currently serves on the programs committee for the California State Bar’s International Law section. He is a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania’s School of Arts and Sciences, with minors in Marketing and Entrepreneurial Management from the Wharton Business School.
